Useful Information about Side, Turkey and staying in our luxury apartments
Getting to your holiday destination
A few flight/holiday companies that our family has used in the past to travel to turkey are:
- Monarch Airways
- Onur Air
Shopping around for prices is well worthwhile as they can change considerably from company to company and depending on the time of the year (especially in Holiday season).
Antalya Airport in Turkey is where you should fly to if staying in our luxury holiday apartments. Antalya Airport is served by many British departure airports. Contacting us after
booking your flight to Turkey is advised, as we can arrange transfers for you from the Antalya Airport direct to our luxury apartments. We offer competitive prices for up to six people.
Money in Turkey
The unit of money in Turkey is the Lira (YTL), and the rate of exchange in recent years has been approx. 2.5 YTL to each GBP. Aswell as the GBP, shops and
exchange offices will also accept Euros but the exchange rate at individual shops changes greatly. GBP being changed into YTL is simple, and the best place to
do this is the Turkish Post Office, called the PTT. They charge commission of approx 1% but the exchange rate is the official Turkish Bank Rate. We advise not to
use the Beareau De Change in Side town centre as the rate is much lower, and the commission rate is higher. There are ATM’s situated about 10 minutes walk from the
luxury holiday apartments, which take British Debit cards. Or if preferred, there are many banks in Turkey that will change Travellers Cheques.
Transport around Side and Turkey
Although many amenities are within walking distance, some people prefer to use other modes of transport around Side. There is a free bus down the to beach that
leaves twice during the day, that also brings people back. There is a taxi rank 150 yards from the luxury apartments, all these taxis are metered to avoid
overcharging. And for those wishing to venture further, the excitement of a Dolmus (Turkish Bus), is only 5 minutes walk away, these travel to all local
towns, hotels, villages and attractions, and are very cheap at around 50p a journey. A large bus station in a the nearby town of Manavgat provides bus links
to the whole country of Turkey, and many destinations are open to travel from this bus station.
Weather in Turkey
temperature through the year (°C)
Being located in what is named ‘The Turqoise Coast’, Side benefits from very dry summers, around 330 days of sunshine a year, but the vegetation is still very lush and green.
